How PPO Dental Plans Work
Most of our patients have PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) dental plans, which offer the flexibility to choose from a network of participating dentists who have agreed to provide services at pre-negotiated rates. As a PPO provider, Exceptional Dentistry has established relationships with these insurance companies to offer you reduced fees. This means your insurance company pays a percentage of these negotiated fees, and your out-of-pocket costs are typically lower when you choose an in-network dentist like Dr. Ramy. Your plan may also cover specific procedures at different percentages, usually following the 100-80-50 structure (100% for preventive care, 80% for basic procedures, and 50% for major services).
Which Treatments are Covered by Dental Insurance?
Most dental insurance plans categorize treatments by type, with different levels of coverage for each category. Preventive services such as regular cleanings, exams, and x-rays typically receive the highest coverage (often 80-100%), as insurance companies recognize that prevention helps avoid more costly procedures in the future. These routine visits are essential for maintaining your oral health and catching potential issues early.
Basic restorative treatments like fillings, root canals, and periodontal therapy usually receive moderate coverage (typically around 70-80%). Major restorative procedures such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants generally receive lower coverage (around 50%), and some elective cosmetic procedures may not be covered at all. Every insurance plan is different, so our team takes the time to explain your specific benefits and help you maximize your coverage.

If you have any questions about dental insurance, we’ve got answers.
Even if we are out-of-network with your insurance, we will work with your insurance to reduce care costs. Although many insurance plans may restrict in-network benefits to certain providers, you can normally use your plan at out-of-network dentist’s offices as long as you pay the difference in the coverage and treatment fee.
To help you better make decisions and understand your care, Exceptional Dentistry will always print an itemized treatment plan that lists all fees and procedures included, along with your estimated insurance benefits and patient portion. That way, you know exactly what to expect prior to scheduling any treatment. Additionally, you can always choose to finance all or a portion of your procedure when necessary.
Every patient at Exceptional Dentistry will receive a detailed treatment care plan with an itemized insurance estimate included. That way, if you’re planning to get a filling, crown, implant, or other procedure, you can see what your insurance is expected to cover compared to the total treatment price. When possible, our Palmdale dentist will also offer alternative treatments worth considering so that you can compare them to one another and budget accordingly.
Many of our patients do not have dental insurance and choose to finance their dental treatment. They are able to make affordable, low monthly payments instead of enrolling in a separate insurance plan. Talk with one of our team members today to find out if you need dental health insurance, other options available to finance all of your dental treatment if you don’t have insurance, and how affordable payment options work.
